Although I don’t have a dog, I enjoy watching them do tricks. In one of my favorites, the treat-on-snout trick, the dog remains seated and calm with a treat perched on its nose. Then, at the command of the owner, the dog moves its snout quickly and snatches the treat out of midair—an entertaining display of both discipline and dexterity.
No matter how your school year started, it probably wasn’t normal. For some, there was no need to rush to catch a bus or carpool or fuss about dress codes or school uniforms. For others, your dining room table looks more like a tech startup than a family gathering place.
What a year to be a teacher!
Like many other essential personnel, teachers have been on the front lines of the public response to the pandemic. They face increased personal risk, extra teaching responsibilities, and limited resources — all this after a summer “break” filled with uncertainty.
This pandemic forced many parents to take up the responsibility of teaching their children. Some thrived as natural teachers and enjoyed participating in their children's education. Others, well, let’s just say that they have narrowed down their career change options.
